The course of study for the Certificate in Bible and Ministry  is normally undertaken by a cohort of at least five students. The courses comprising the 15 hour certificate program are accredited Barclay Home College distance learning courses, now web-enhanced, and are facilitated by well-qualified full-time or adjunct Barclay College faculty. The program’s six courses are offered successively in a cycle, and students may begin the cycle at the start of any course in it. These courses can satisfy some of the requirements of Barclay College’s on-campus degree programs, and may transfer to other institutions.

The courses utilize the Home College distance learning printed materials for content, which are available in the student’s choice of English or Spanish. Students are required to interact with one another and faculty online in threaded discussion forums or chat rooms; assignments are submitted online; examinations are taken online. (in the greater Portland area the cohort group will be meeting twice a month for interaction and for tutorial purposes) Online participation is a component in the calculation of the final course grades.

Note that the language of the web site is English. Students may post in either English or Spanish, and examinations will be offered in both English and Spanish.

The time needed for completion of the program course work is approximately fifteen months (66 weeks); holidays and breaks will extend this timeline. A cohort of students will take approximately 9 weeks to complete each two hour course; each three hour course will take approximately 13 weeks. Like an individual student in a distance learning course, the cohort can determine its own pace. With the consent of the faculty facilitator, an ambitious cohort, whose members are mutually and unanimously committed to working diligently, could shorten these times.

Upon successful completion, students are awarded The Certificate in Bible and Ministry.
